В SAP S/4HANA On-Premise 2025 FPS01 данные об экспозициях для сценария Hedge Management of Net Open Exposures могут поступать из Exposure Management 2.0 (EM2), FX Exposure Management и Cash Management.
Hedge Accounting#
TRM: Exposures and Hedge Management#
An exposure is a basis for analysis, not an executed trade#
In SAP S/4HANA On-Premise 2025 FPS01, exposure data for Hedge Management of Net Open Exposures can come from Exposure Management 2.0 (EM2), FX Exposure Management, and Cash Management. These sources reflect different processes and data models. Whether a forecast, commitment, or open position appears in an analysis depends on how it is produced, its category, and the hedging-area settings.
Do not confuse an exposure, snapshot, hedge request, and hedging instrument. An exposure is an amount or position that carries risk; a snapshot stores a selected data state on an extraction date; a hedge request records a calculated need for an instrument; a hedging transaction becomes an actual financial instrument in the process. A snapshot or request is not itself an executed trade.
Hedging-area settings determine what is selected#
The hedging area defines the analysis scope and grouping criteria. Filters specify which exposures are selected. SAP Help lists the EM2 sources by time period and by reference, FX Exposure Management, and Cash Management. If no exposure filter is defined for an area, the cockpit selects no exposures for that area.
When configuring filters, check company, currency, exposure category and position type, and differentiation attributes such as portfolio, profit center, cost center, business area, WBS, and others where used by the area. Reference-based analysis items have additional requirements for the exposure position type, including no aggregation indicator and valid planning-period/year settings. Confirm these values against the documentation and Customizing for the target release.
Period analysis or a link to one position#
SAP describes two forms of analysis item:
- By Time Periods: exposures and instruments with the same differentiation criteria and time period belong to one analysis item. The hedging-area settings determine the detail and aggregation.
- By Reference: an analysis item is linked to a single non-aggregated exposure position. This form is intended, among other cases, for scenarios where a hedge must be tied to a particular balance-sheet position and maturity.
The selected granularity affects the group displayed by the cockpit and the level at which the hedge amount is analyzed. If a position changes or is no longer relevant, the effect depends on the transfer and aggregation rules, not just a matching currency.
A snapshot preserves the basis for a decision#
SAP requires fully versioned data before the hedge management process. Extraction for a hedging area creates incoming, outgoing, and net exposure items according to its applicable filters. It saves source amounts, position and snapshot identifiers, area version, and other attributes. A Hedge Management Cockpit layout controls which snapshots to read: a specific ID, the latest snapshot, or the latest relevant snapshot, and the date used to read hedging instruments.
For an explainable result, retain the hedging-area version, extraction date, snapshot ID, exposure source and category, incoming and outgoing amounts, periods, currency, and analysis dimensions. Comparing two runs is meaningful only when dates, sources, filters, area version, and grouping rules are aligned. Otherwise a change in net exposure may come from a changed data set, not from a new market position.
Hedge need and the trade are separate control points#
The cockpit compares selected exposures and existing instruments at the configured analysis levels. This can show net exposure, existing instruments and open hedge requests, and calculate an amount to hedge in the configured scenario. The calculated need is a result of the selected data and settings; it does not mean an instrument was created, approved, or designated.
Control the stages separately: which exposures were selected; how they were aggregated; which instruments and requests were included for the selected date; which net or gross exposure figures are displayed; which request was generated; and which financial transaction was actually created. Do not net exposures solely because their currencies match. Company, direction, maturity, and other matching criteria must follow the configured analysis-item model.
Boundary with Hedge Accounting#
This material describes exposure collection and hedge-need analysis in the Hedge Management Cockpit. Transfer to Hedge Accounting, designation, effectiveness testing, classification, and hedge-accounting postings are separate steps that require their own criteria and evidence. SAP documents transfer options from Exposure Management 2.0 to E-HA with or without aggregation; that does not mean every exposure is automatically part of hedge accounting.
Applicability#
This description is based on SAP S/4HANA On-Premise 2025 FPS01. It does not prove the availability of the same sources, filters, applications, or hedge-accounting functions in Public Edition, Private Edition, ECC, or another release. Customer hedging-area settings, eligible categories and currencies, snapshots, and system valuation accuracy were not checked. This describes a process and its controls; it is not advice on a hedge amount or its economic suitability.
For general risk concepts, see Currency Risk and Open Exposure. A transaction and its flows are covered in the TRM Transaction Lifecycle.
The next steps are covered in TRM: Hedge Accounting Sequence.
